Performance at Yatap Station on Friday night
I don't know what it was exactly, but the performers were dressed up in historical garb and doing some stuff you usually see in a sageuk (Korean historical drama). I'm not sure if this is a common thing or not, but it may be related to Chuseok (Korea's version of Thanksgiving) which is coming up here pretty soon.
Anyway, we picked up some stuff from Home Plus and then headed back to our apartment. It was dark by the time we left and the historical performance had ended but there was a big group of dancers putting on a show so we stopped to watch for a little bit. It was a rare "Wow, we're really in Korea." moment for both of us because you just don't see things like that every day.
Then Saturday morning came all too soon (I was soooo not looking forward to having to get up early on my day off) and most of the staff from our school met up to go on a "retreat" of sorts for team building and bonding. We met up in front of the school, piled into a bus, and settled in for about an hour's drive to some hiking trails......somewhere near Seoul. I honestly don't know what Mountain we went to or if it was North or South. All I know is there were a lot of trails and it was all very pretty.
The drive to the hiking trails.
The slopes were a LOT steeper and rockier than we were expecting though, so it was a bit painful (we even went on some "adventures" -- yes we got lost a few times). There was some very beautiful scenery though!
Views from hiking. And a squirrel.
Luckily we only spent a small portion of our day actually hiking before it was time for lunch and the school treated everyone to some delicious barbecue. Yum. It was so good.
Barbecue lunch. All you can see is my arm, lol!
While we were eating got into a discussion about some of the Korean stars we like with a few of the other teachers. They thought it was soooo funny that I love Lee Seung Gi (a popular Korean singer/actor). Then we told them about how I had been taking pictures Friday night while we were shopping at Home Plus because I was so excited to see some of my favorites doing their product advertisement and I even showed them this lovely shot I got of Lee Seung Gi on a box of toothpaste:
His smile is absolutely perfect.
Oh, and I can't forget this memorable shot of Song Joong Ki (another one of my faves) enjoying a cup of coffee:
Doesn't this just make you want to drink coffee? Hehe.
Aaaaanyway, the food was followed by a hilarious game of charades in which I discovered I have no talent what-so-ever. Then we played dodge-ball and it was way more fun than I was expecting. Finally, we played a game of Quack and think everyone about died laughing. (If you don't know what Quack is: everyone sits in a circle and the first person has to look at the person to their left or their right and say "quack" without laughing...then that person can look back at them or to the person on their other side and they have to do the same thing...it sounds so simple but I didn't even last one round)!
All-in-all it was pretty fun. I really wish today never had to end. I'm so glad I still have at least one more day left before I have to go to work though! Hwaiting!
